Reserves FAQ
AS OF JUNE 2009 WE HAVE INDEFINITELY SUSPENDED THE RESERVE PROCESS
Why do you allow reserves?
All of our customers do not live in the same time zone and have different family and work constraints that make it impossible to choose an update time that is convenient for everyone. In order to make our yarns accessible to as many as possible, we allow a portion of the yarns from each batch to be reserved before the main update.
How do I reserve yarn?
As yarn is dyed for the next update, we will post preview photos in our flickr photostream and make a portion of each batch available in the reserves section of the website. Reserve yarns can be purchased like any other yarn. After the next update, all of your reserves and purchases from the update (if any) will be combined and shipped together.
If I'm only purchasing reserved yarn, will you ship before the update?
We ship in large batches after each update. Even if you only purchase a reserve skein, please expect to wait until after the next update has taken place for your yarn to be shipped.
If the yarns are all reserved, how can I buy anything at the update?
As stated above, only a portion of each batch is made available for reserve. There will still be many yarns available for purchase at the main update!
Can I reserve a specific skein from a batch?
We will try to honor special requests for specific qualities such as light or dark. However, this may not always be possible. Please do not reserve yarn if you are not willing to accept the normal variations that occur in batches of hand-dyed yarns. If you do have a special request, please note it in the comments box at checkout. It is much easier to track special requests this way.
If I reserve more than one skein from a batch, will they match?
We always fill orders for multiple skeins first, taking care to select the skeins that are the closest match. However, there will still be normal variations from skein to skein. If using more than one skein in a project, alternating every other row will help to balance the overall color in the finished project.
